Our History

Zomi Information Network was founded in 2001 from a shared vision to address the informational, cultural, educational, and communal needs of the Zomi people.

At a time when reliable digital information concerning the Zomi community was limited and scattered, ZIN envisioned a common platform through which knowledge could be collected, preserved, organized, and shared.

As communication technologies developed and Zomi communities expanded throughout the global diaspora, that original vision became increasingly important. ZIN evolved from an information-sharing initiative into a wider platform committed to connecting communities, documenting heritage, supporting education, and expanding access to reliable public-interest information.

ZIN is now being renewed as a modern, multilingual, and community-centered portal. Its technologies and services will continue to develop, but its foundational purpose remains unchanged: to serve the Zomi people through accurate information, preserved knowledge, responsible communication, and constructive engagement.
