Verification

Important factual claims should be confirmed through direct documentation, credible reporting, qualified witnesses, subject-matter experts, or multiple independent sources whenever possible. Social-media posts, anonymous messages, screenshots, and forwarded statements must not be treated as established facts without additional verification.

News and Opinion

News reports, analysis, editorials, opinion articles, press releases, sponsored materials, and community announcements must be clearly labeled.

Serious Allegations

When a person or organization faces a serious allegation, ZIN should make a reasonable effort to obtain a response before publication. Allegations must remain identified as allegations unless established by reliable evidence or an appropriate legal finding.

Conflict Reporting

Reporting involving armed conflict, political violence, displacement, or communal tension requires heightened verification. ZIN avoids inflammatory ethnic generalizations, dehumanizing descriptions, operational details that place civilians at risk, and unverified casualty figures.

Artificial Intelligence

AI may assist with transcription, translation, organization, image preparation, or editorial workflows, but human editors remain responsible for published material. AI-generated or materially altered images must be labeled when they could be mistaken for documentary photographs. AI must never invent quotations, sources, witnesses, documents, historical evidence, or events.

Cultural Integrity

Zomi names, terminology, attire, symbols, historical accounts, and cultural practices must be represented accurately and respectfully.
